THE DANCER AND THE DIPLOMAT

BIOGRAPHY

Three years full of surreal adventures, successfully at a frenetic rhythm in Los Angeles, California

MIS NUEVOS ÍNTIMOS AMIGOS, EL DIRECTOR DE TURISMO DE ESPAÑA Y SU MARIDO

The Consul of Spain knew that my father would visit me soon and to welcome him, he organized a small committee meal in the swimming pool of his residence. Among the guests would be the Director of the Tourism office and his husband, a very handsome writer with who I connected right away. I was always “Mariliendres “ and from then on the three of us became very good friends.

When the paella arrived on the table, just because of the color my father and I looked at each other with the face of earth swallow me! No one knew that my father, even if he was a Cat, that is, a pure Madrilenian, came straight from his chalet in Valencia where it is typical to have a paellero and every Sunday, as is tradition, my mother cooked the best paella in the world. Even so, my father did the honor of tasting it before the expectant gaze of everyone, especially the Consul's wife who, with a few drinks already in her system, left her seat, and sat next to him. She was in love with the gray eyes of my father with whom she did not stop flirting with him, even kissed him on the mouth and I did not like that at all. In the first place because my father was happily married to my mother and then I found it disrespectful to the Consul who seemed like a great man to me and who unfortunately seemed very used to this type of behavior. She was a very tall, gorgeous, capricious German woman, and much younger than him, but that didn't give her the right to act that way.

I had a very special affection for Mr. Jose Luis Dicenta Ballester. From the beginning he believed in me, he helped me, he supported me, he opened doors for me and it was a detail to welcome my father in this way. But I have to admit that D. Ángel Barco attracted a lot of attention for his resemblance to Paul Newman and was irresistible with women. Good thing my mother wasn't jealous and when I told her she was proud to have such an attractive husband.

Nando and Alberto, to remove tension at the moment, invited us all to the concert that Diego Torres gave that same night and his song of the moment Color Esperanza. I hadn't even heard it, but it was a good excuse to bring my father, who, as a good sound engineer, would surely enjoy the sound or not.

After the concert we went to dinner at Leonardo DiCaprio and Camerón Díaz's hotel restaurant, the Standard. I was amazed when upon entering the reception I saw a naked man inside a huge glass case using his computer and eating as if it were normal. Apparently it was a 24-hour show where he took turns with a woman who was also naked. The best fries I had ever had other than my Nanny's. Then we had a few drinks on the rooftop, which was the best! The design of the pool with its spectacular views ... I didn't want the night to end, but that feeling was very normal among Spaniards since at 2am when you start to be in the clouds, everything ends. In the end you get used to it and start the party at 6 in the afternoon.

In L.A. there is very little Downtown and certainly the Walt Disney Concert Hall with its imposing steel architecture designed by one of my favorite architects, Canadian Frank Gehry you cannot miss it.

Little by little I got to know the creative life of WeHo, West Hollywood, where architecture, fashion, and the arts merge, without forgetting the heart of the famous gay nightlife of the impressive bars of Santa Monica Boulevard. It was the first time I had attended the gay pride party, rightly the most spectacular in the world. It was like being in a real movie. Some girl, very beautiful by the way, threw the shit at me but as Alberto said; - Nothing dear, don't even try, you like a soldier more than I do.

One sunny afternoon, on the spectacular terrace of the Hollywood Hills house of my favorite couple, I asked Alberto if he could read the script for a dance in three acts that I had finished writing, Sefarad S. XV Inspired by the book that Paul gave me by Noah Gordon “The Last Jew”. As a good writer, he advised me, helped me, and made some corrections.

I was informed a lot and I got very fully into all the injustice and the historical error that the Catholic Monarchs committed with the Spanish Inquisition.

That book marked me for the rest of my life and helped me to create, to travel through medieval times, to live a happy ending and through the passion and drama of flamenco, to tell a love story and dance between silks with Daniel , my love Jew.
