Three years full of surreal adventures, successfully at a frenetic rhythm in Los Angeles, California 

Chapter 10. New Years Eve, an architect builds for me a stage in his mansion in Bel Air.

My mother was already in LA to spend Christmas Eve with me. I was not yet ready to return to Spain. Everyone, my students were fascinated with her beauty and sweet personality. 

Especially Paul, who was not separated from me at all. And who had decided to help me and get involved in all my wishes, projects, dreams, whims and goals. Paul had nothing to do with show business, he was a Mexican and a drug dealer, specifically to a large Jewish community. So he had bonuses in the most exclusive restaurants in California and while we enjoyed the best food, we talked about flamenco. And so, under my orders, he became my producer and my bodyguard. 

Right away my mother realized how he was looking at me, totally stunned and that's when she warned me that without a doubt, he was in love with me so better have a lot of knowledge. 

At the end of the class, we took my mother to the Sushi Place and not even the white foam that she spilled from her mouth when she confused wasabi with avocado, prevented her from warning me again that I had another student in love with me. 

A Filipino architect, Maden, who told me that his boss was giving an opening party dedicated to Spain for New Year's Eve, at the Mansion that had just been built in Bel Air. That he had told him about me and wanted to meet me. 

The mansion was spectacular! Wáng Jin was waiting for us in the garden with his wife, who was finalizing the details of the Brunch they had prepared for us.

I had never danced on a New Year's Eve, much less at a private party. The stage was my The better ally and the more separated from the public, the better. So I thought, if I asked a lot, they would say no and I would get rid of the New Year's commitment.  

As if I were Madonna, I asked for a stage the size of a theater, with scenography inspired by Andalusian architecture, with interlocking and lobed arches, ribbed vaults, my light cannon, the best sound, my own dressing room, the first tables very separated from the stage and $ 20,000 in cash and in advance for only 30m of duration. 

But my surprise was, when his wife got up from the table with a huge smile, took me by the hand, led me to the beginning of the hill and told me that they could use many columns like in the mosque of Cordoba to raise the stage and to which I would have independent access from my dressing room. 

Maden was already by my side with his notebook taking notes and looking at me as if I were not real, I had gone from being his flamenco teacher dressed in long, old skirts, and torn shirts, to a star, which would also make him increase considerably his bank account. 

Mr Wáng stayed at the table shamelessly flirting with my mother and that's when I used my last letter, saying that my mother had to return to Spain to spend New Year's Eve with my father and my brothers and that I would feel very sad without her helping me such an important night. Immediately he called his secretary and without ceasing to conquer my mother, he asked her to buy him a new ticket to Madrid and in first class. I had no choice and I shook my hand and accepted . 

My mother and I were already dollar-faced and were really getting worried about the size of the Italian bow, so we started planning my father's visit. 

Alex would be my mother's companion. I asked him please not to drink too much, especially nothing to mix, which did not suit my mother. However, Alex's trips to the immense bar full of hams and paellas were continuous and my mother had 10 glasses of different liquors that she was sneakily sipping and that she tried to cover with my photos, which I had put for the guests at the tables of each one of them. 

There was an hour to go until the end of the year and Paul went into Wáng Jin's office to get pay. 

He paid the musicians and kept the $ 19,000 in cash in his jacket like Camarón de la Isla. We went to the table to toast with my mother before dancing and there were Alex, Maden and Paul, all my lovers together and with their future mother-in-law? 

Dance by Solea for Bulerías and for Flamenco Tangos. Having more than 1000 guests quiet on one night like this was a challenge for me. And dancing for people so passionate about my culture and my country, I will never forget it. 

When we said goodbye, Wàng Jin's wife gave me an envelope with a $ 3000 tip that the guests at his table had left for me.I looked at Alex and thanked him for having me in LA and leaving me on the side of his bed. 

We had to leave the cars in Bel Air and go back to LA all in the Paul’s van who was the only one who had not drunk. And of course we made several emergency stops on the platform of the freeway, so that my mother vomited all the liquor before going to bed, to sleep ¡La Mona !

 The foreigner is used to teaching flamenco very quickly and without discipline, anything goes, any shoe, any skirt, hanging out even parodying and even ridiculing flamenco.

Definitely the Experimental Flamenco of Esther Ponce has an Angel!

From England, without a doubt the most special Experimental Flamenco we have had at the Flamenco Art Center in these two and a half years.

This year Esther thought that her Angel would be very busy due to the current pandemic situation and also that it would be a coincidence that another year happened.

But to Esther’s surprise it was like that and without doubt the most special flamenco toast for England.

After the experience of teaching classes with a mask? A private flamenco class for two hours without stopping, does Esther remember that when she and the student went out into the street they breathed for two seconds as if there were no tomorrow?According to Esther’s recent experience, with the mask you cannot see the total expression of the student, but the eyes also speak and flamenco is also expressed with the body.

With all the safety measures, the student disinfected her shoes, put hydroalcoholic gel on her hands, a temperature control was performed with a non-contact forehead thermometer and the student did not remove her mask during the two hours, only in the changing room that she only used to drink water.
