XANA

XANA, a true story…

…But XANA was different from her 3 sisters, since the day she was born in the Nalón estuary while her mother washed, she was already blessed to foresee the future throughout her life and save lives…

“XANA uses her powers to rescue her daughter from Buenos Aires on Christmas Eve…Elvira sings at the mythical Colón theater and her manager disappears with the money, cheats on him, steals her cache and the tragedy begins…”

1984, is the first time that the Cuban leader Fidel Castro visits Spain. The lawyer and politician Felipe Gonzalez, had been president of Spain for two years with his Spanish Socialist PSOE. Nobody could imagine that he would win 4 consecutive general elections by an absolute majority. The newspaper El País publishes the interview that the journalist Jesus Quintero does to the president, for the program of the SER chain, El loco de la Colina, where he states that Spain is a "paradise" for pacifism, which did not allow the passage of nuclear weapons on its territory, which belongs to OTAN but is not militarily integrated...

The Virgin of Socorro shone like never before. This time the halo formed in a very short time and it was the sign that something was going to happen very quickly.
Elvira had exquisite taste, she bought spectacular clothes, very elegant and at the same time festive. lace, satin, wild silk, angora, cashmere... her favorite client was her neighbor , Betty, who bought everything. She was Mexican and her husband was a French magnate. At the parties that Elvira organized at her house, she exhibited the dresses and was the perfect role model for the rest of the guests and friends who were looking forward to seeing the new collection.
The party ended when Betty emptied the bottle of champagne and lifted her skirt showing her lingerie to everyone. Sometimes Esther and her brothers watched the show from the windows of their rooms, which opened onto the terrace where they celebrated and danced.
XANA sensed that Elvira shouldn't take the train that night, she called her and convinced her not to. But her partner did travel. On the way back, the Talgo that covered Paris-Madrid at dawn was the object of sabotage by the French terrorist organization Iparretarrak, who cut off the track on both sides with torches and the train derailed with 250 passengers.

It was being an unstoppable year musically. Angel was recording day and night at Hispavox. Composer José Luis Perales writes new hits for super famous Raphael the singer and studios are more in demand than ever. At that moment, the singer who drives all the women of Spain crazy, Bertín Osborne, who had just won the San Remo song festival, is recording at Hispavox and preparing a tour in which the sound engineer who makes the artists, Angel Barco, could not miss. And Along with the solo record release of the singer Alaska, Hispavox never closed.

XANA had traveled to Madrid to help Elvira mainly with the princess of Kapurthala, who was in the last year of her degree and the Singer machine did not stop sewing the amount of clothing that she needed to have to take the exams in June. And the virgin was already beginning to light up again.
XANA taught the Filipina how to sew, who learned very quickly and did it very well. But she kept seeing something strange in her… one day she would find the enigma.
Esther studies her career at a private dance academy that turned out to be the one that best prepared her students for the exams at the Royal Conservatory of Music and Dance in Madrid. Marta de la Vega was the Director and her two daughters, Ana and Cristina Jerez, were principal dancers of the National Ballet of Spain and the teachers of the school. So the harsh discipline that was taught both in classes and on a day-to-day basis was from the National Ballet. In addition to being lucky enough to get ideas from the ballet costume patterns, which were beautiful and different from the rest of what other schools presented. The best thing that can happen to a dancer is to have a good foundation and the best technique, synonymous with success and that was what happened to Esther Barco.
While XANA and Elvira sewed the endless twenty ruffles for the wonderful aqua blue flamenco frees “bata de cola” , they remembered what happened in the first year's exam at the conservatory...
Esther, who was the smallest, was placed first at the ballet bar, the pianist was waiting for the orders of the Director of the conservatory, the emblematic dancer and choreographer Marienma, to start playing, but Esther went ahead and gave the order. The most shocking thing was that the pianist began to play. Marienma and the rest of the jurors, who were all sitting at a long table, were stunned by what had happened. They let her take the full exam, which lasted more than three hours, and when it was over, Marienma went to Marta de la Vega to inform her of the results of all her students. Esther had gotten an A, but she was suspended due to what happened and she would have to show up in September to make up and pass the course. The director explained to Elvira that her daughter had so much personality and she was such a good artist, that she would have a promising future in the world of dance but that they had to teach her a lesson and learn to respect the rules.
Back in September, Marienma waited for the pianist to be ready to start, but more importantly, she waited to see if Esther had learned her lesson. After the ballet barre, she no longer examined herself, they asked her to approach the jury table, where Marienma gave her an envelope with the grade she had taken in June...
All that remained was to finish off the ruffles with a very fine silk and linen lace, interspersed with XANA's famous gold thread. Esther trained very well with flamenco teacher Paco Fernandez, who taught her her most elegant arm movement for the rest of her artistic career. And she dance por “solea” more flamenca than ever, finishing her career with a well-deserved A+.

XANA returned to Valencia with her beloved husband who could no longer live without her and to prepare the beach house for the summer before the crowds arrived. General Ponce had a devotion for his Carminina. He was such a good person that he thanked God every day for having such a special woman by his side, and helping the poor was still his main goal.
One day XANA called Elvira asking her to please not allow her daughter Esther to sleep alone that night. The Virgin of Socorro was warning her of what was going to happen.
Elvira and Angel's house was very big. Her bedroom suite with bathroom opened onto a huge terrace, as did the rooms of each of their children. The terrace had a flowerpot about three meters long by two wide, full of beautiful plants and trees that Angel planted with his daughter and that communicated with the flowerpot on the terrace of the neighbors' house.
Each floor had a landing of four houses connected by the lounge terrace and the service terrace. An elevator took you to the main door that led to the living room and another elevator took you to the door that led to the kitchen. The kitchen was huge and had a very long corridor that led to the servant's room where the Filipina slept. A huge room full of light that entered through the windows that opened onto the terrace and the courtyard of lights. It had a bathroom and two rooms.

Paco the pilot, who had become a true friend, brought on the plane every Friday the delicious fresh beef that he bought in Buenos Aires in the afternoon. As he lived right in front with her mother and was divorced from her wife, he took it to Elvira's house and they prepared the beef with butter and rosemary for dinner. There was never a lack of dessert, the chocolate alfajores filled with dulce de leche that her friend Graciela sent.
His son Paquito, who was about to turn seventeen, became a close friend of sixteen Ismael. But nobody draw too much attention to the way in which he remained lost looking at Esther. He was always behind her. He would get into her room without warning, who was next to her brother's room and constantly asked her to hang out . But Esther only had eyes for her surfer.
Before leaving, XANA said to her granddaughter; — Be very careful with Paquito, he has a crazy face!
During the time he spent with his father, Paquito lived with his grandmother, who was the one who was educating him. Paco was flying all the time and he didn't spend the time that a boy of that age needs, and he wasn't aware of the beatings that his own mother gave his son. He was a teenager who was beginning to know his body like everyone his age, but his grandmother was like a bad witch, she put duct tape on his mouth so he wouldn't scream and beat him very hard with the broomstick every time she caught him looking at a magazine with naked women. She later punished him without going outside for a while so that no one would see the blows. She had him psychologically destroyed and no one had noticed except XANA.
Esther, who was already a little woman, wanted more privacy and changed her room to the Filipina. It was much larger than hers, and had plenty of room for all of her wardrobe. It also had a lock and it was perfect so that no one came in to touch her things. This change created an even greater insecurity in Paquito, who could no longer sneak into Esther's room, who could not control what happened when she stayed inside with the surfer and began to plan an outrage that only a sick mind can think of.

It was the last day of school and XANA called Elvira to warn her not to let her daughter Esther sleep alone that night.
Sonia was Esther's best friend from school and they had been in the pool all afternoon. Sonia, who was also graduating in Spanish dance after Esther convinced her parents, was going straight to Cercedilla on vacation and was waiting for her father who came to pick her up.
Esther still could not see the halo that formed the triptych of the Virgen del Socorro on the sewing machine, and she always let herself be carried away by the advice of XANA, her mother and her grandmother Elvira, when she appeared in her dreams. But that day, when she entered the sewing room to collect her wardrobe, a bright light caught her eye. She had two months left to turn 15 and her time had come. She stood looking at the virgin for a while when Elvira came in and told her; Baby, it's very important, we have to convince Sonia's father to let her sleep over and not stay alone in the room…Esther received the same message from the virgin.
Sonia's father said that it was impossible to stay in Madrid because his wife and his son were waiting for them in the mountains and that he was very sorry. Elvira had no choice but she has to use the letter that her destiny had offered her, to blackmail and convince him.

A few months ago, a woman had visited the boutique looking for a dress for a party. While having a glass of Champagne, Elvira told her that she had to close soon because her daughter was taking an exam at the conservatory and that caused the client to be honest with Elvira, telling her that she was in love with a married man, who had been her lover for years. , and that he had a 15-year-old daughter named Sonia who was also studying Spanish dance.
Elvira never said anything to Sonia's father and she kept the secret even from Angel. But that night she told him to please let his daughter sleep with Esther and that way he would have the perfect excuse to sleep with his lover whom he would not see during the long summer that he would be in the mountains with his wife and their children.

It was very hot in Madrid and Esther and Sonia left the windows of the room open, the bed was right next to the window. They were talking, singing and dancing until three in the morning. Esther, before turning off the light, was very surprised to see the light on the landing. But she didn't care and they went to bed...
Paquito had it all figured out, The Bad Witch, had prepared some muffins and Paquito took the opportunity to offer them to the neighbors who lived next to Esther's house and, incidentally, sneakily give the dog a piece. It was impossible to resist the dulce de leche and the cream and inside they carried a good dose of sleeping pills. Angel slept in short maroon pajamas and Paquito had bought one exactly the same so that they would mistake.
Sonia woke up hearing the noise of the blind and from the shock of seeing a man locking the door of the room and coming on all fours towards the bed, she was speechless and could not scream. She just nudged Esther to wake her up. Everything happened very quickly and when Angel and Elvira woke up hearing her daughter's loud screams, they quickly went to the room but couldn't get in because it was locked.
The lights of all the neighbors' houses turned on. Angel called the police, who arrived immediately. Esther and Sonia couldn't see the man's face because it was all dark, they only saw the silhouette and the maroon shorts. When Sonia saw Angel in shorts of the same color, she told the police that it had been him. Esther said that it had been her neighbor. While the Police interrogated Paco the pilot, who had just arrived from the airport, Paquito was still hanging from the railing of the fifth floor terrace, about to fall into the void and kill himself.
When Elvira heard Sonia's statement, she tried to calm her down by saying that Angel was sleeping with her and the police explained to them that their neighbors, the two models who worked for El Corte Inglés , were gay and there was no point in going into her neighbor's room to sleep with her.
Paquito had entered the house of the models through the living room terrace, and from the kitchen terrace he had gone to Esther's terrace. He entered through the window that was open and went straight to close the door so that no one could enter. What was not expected was to see Sonia in bed with Esther, who had a very deep sleep and did not wake up even if there was a bombing.
When the police finished questioning on that floor, Paquito entered through the terrace again, went to his room and got dressed. He went out into the street and the police officer who was watching caught him trying to escape through the field. He quickly notified his colleagues who entered Paquito's room and saw his pajama pants hidden behind a piece of furniture, along with a rope, a knife and a note that its said; — If she can't be for me, she won't be for anyone. The fingerprints matched and everything was clear.
The pilot could not believe what had happened and, crying and on his knees, asked Elvira and Angel to please not report his son, that it would destroy his life even more and that he would take him out of the country to a specialized center. Paco was a very good person and Elvira could not forget the great favor that he did for her in Argentina and she had to return it.
If Sonia hadn't stayed the night, God knows what would have the crazy did to Esther.
Once again, XANA saved her life.

That same morning they put bars on the window so that no one could enter, but Esther moved to her parents' room because fear had taken over her.

Don't miss the next chapter! Chap.9

“XANA helps her granddaughter, winner of a national award, to remove the cast from her leg so she can dance in front of two thousand people. Elvira almost had a heart attack when she saw her on stage…”

Elvira and Esther

Unleash Your Inner Flamenca is dedicated to all the women of the world and it does not mean that you have to be flamenco or dedicate yourself to the world of dance. It is an expression, it is a way of facing the setbacks that life gives us and because flamenco has that attitude of: Here I am!

Unleashing my inner Flamenca has helped me in many very extreme situations in my life and, not only technically speaking as a flamenco professional, but in those times that I didn't have to be dancing, or teaching, or competing, or performing on stage. I’m talking about everyday life.

That is why you too can bring out your inner Flamenca.

A flamenca woman is confident, a flamenca woman is sure of herself, has gravitas, has bearing, has wisdom and knows how to be in command.

In other words, unleash your inner Flamenca and join me in this adventure in which we are going to have a great time! We know how it starts and we don't know how it ends, but it is sure to be one of the most unforgettable experiences of your life.

I didn't need to be famous to sleep in Hemingway's Presidential suite at the Gritti Palace in Venice for all my birthdays.

Have a Bellini while I wait for the gondola that will take me to the private Film Festival party on the yacht of my colleague, who was a Versace collaborator, or dine on the famous terrace of the Hotel Danieli.

It is also true that if I had slept with all my stalkers, I would now be more famous than Sara Baras. BUT! no matter how much I took a shower, the smell of vomit would not go away from my body and the phrase of: “how did I get it” would be the soundtrack of my life, which would turn my insides with each applause.

Nor did I need to be famous to have a bodyguard escort me to the door of the plane, in the direction of the American Embassy in Beirut or go in a Limousine and drink the best champagne.

“Todo lo he conseguido con pasión, seguridad en mi misma , esfuerzo y dedicación”.

Proving first to myself and then to the whole world that I don't need to sell myself to a man to succeed in my career. And that I bring out the inner Flamenca every time they cross my path.

Do not allow any man to command you or demand what you have to do.

Lucha por lo que quieras, viste como quieras, maquíllate como quieras , estudia lo que quieras y júntate con quien quieras.

The first time a man lays his hand on you, it will be his fault, but the second time it will be your fault for putting up with the first time.

And if you feel trapped and you are afraid to stand up to your reality, look for a way as if it were the last day of your life to give a signal at the pharmacy, at the market, to a neighbor you come across, to anyone who can hear this number: 016! and it will be the first step to your salvation, to your new life, surely filled with all the good things you long for and where no one will let you back down. You will immediately be protected by the society that will protect and help you without conditions. And I, Esther Ponce, am already thinking of you.

UNLEASH YOUR INNER FLAMENCA #SACALAFLAMENCA

I have suffered more than 10 workplace harassments from very famous people in the world of show business, and knowing what I now know, I would have denounced it.

A I’m going to tell you how I brought out the flamenco that I have in extreme situations and that I hope and serve to help some woman to do the same as me.

For now I'm only going to use nicknames.

“If I had slept with all my stalkers, I would now be more famous than Sara Baras. "

With my testimony and my own experience, living in different countries of the world and interacting with all kinds of social classes, race, culture and religion, I want to turn around the drama that women experience in the world.
That they are not alone... that they unleash their inner flamenca A strong and self-confident woman, the director of their own life. That she clings to the ground with temperance and ready to scratch at any moment if necessary and fight life with the best smile...

I have experiences and anecdotes to tell all women; the neighborhood ones, the rich ones , the conflictive ones, the addicted ones, etc. And always with my motto that to run away from any situation, the best thing is to practice athletics! … My uncle used to called me Dance Athlete, he said; As long as you have strong legs and a strong heart, you can fly! .

Esther Ponce's experimental Flamenco is ready for the Valencian Director of Tourism to meet

It is very gratifying to have an idea like the experimental Flamenco in Valencia, carry it out and have managed to attract more than 20 foreign clients to Valencia in a short time and without marketing, who have passed through the Flamenco Art Center, and who have not only They learned a lot if not they have returned to their country with a better concept of Valencia.

His experience and approach to flamenco led by Esther Ponce will make you return without hesitation to the city of Turia.

Esther Ponce not only surrounds them with her passion and charisma from the first moment, her professionalism and a very long journey through different countries of the world where she has lived for long periods, she makes them fall in love.

You just have to read the dedications of all the foreigners who write in their precious notebook created for them and that are already adding more and more.

«They also buy semi-professional shoes and a skirt to study with me.» That’s already the best! –
~ Esther Ponce

The foreigner is used to teaching flamenco very quickly and without discipline, anything goes, any shoe, any skirt, hanging out even parodying and even ridiculing flamenco.

With me if they want to study two private hours which is the minimum, they are given the option of buying or renting the shoes and none of them have thought twice about it to this day.

«Being a polyglot, doors just open up to me» –

Definitely the Experimental Flamenco of Esther Ponce has an Angel!

From England, without a doubt the most special Experimental Flamenco we have had at the Flamenco Art Center in these two and a half years.

The Esther Ponce Stylized Flamenco Art Center has been open for two and a half years. El Ángel Every August 28, for Esther’s birthday, a new foreign student gives her a gift and the flamenco toast intensifies.

«The students do not want to miss the opportunity to study with me. When they start to study my technique they are hooked at the first second. Those who play sports and take care of themselves immediately identify with my stretching and feel safer for the rest of the class and those who don’t appreciate it and will surely start practicing it and taking care of themselves forever »
~ Esther Ponce

This year Esther thought that her Angel would be very busy due to the current pandemic situation and also that it would be a coincidence that another year happened.

But to Esther’s surprise it was like that and without doubt the most special flamenco toast for England.

«Discipline is my hallmark and not even the Covid has stopped us» «I have never doubted it and I will only teach classes with a mask»
~ Esther Ponce

After the experience of teaching classes with a mask? A private flamenco class for two hours without stopping, does Esther remember that when she and the student went out into the street they breathed for two seconds as if there were no tomorrow?According to Esther’s recent experience, with the mask you cannot see the total expression of the student, but the eyes also speak and flamenco is also expressed with the body.

With all the safety measures, the student disinfected her shoes, put hydroalcoholic gel on her hands, a temperature control was performed with a non-contact forehead thermometer and the student did not remove her mask during the two hours, only in the changing room that she only used to drink water.

“Now I can present my Experimental Flamenco to the director of Tourism of Valencia and let him roll with the little ham :)”

~ Esther Ponce
