THE DANCER AND THE DIPLOMAT

BIOGRAPHY

Three years full of surreal adventures, successfully at a frenetic rhythm in Los Angeles, California

THE INDECENT PROPOSITION OF ILYA SALKIND, PRODUCER OF “SUPERMAN” DINING IN CANTER’S.

I don't know if it is because I have rabbinical curls and my name is Hebrew, Sarah Esther, but almost everyone I knew took it for granted that I was Jewish or they asked me. I had always had the feeling that having been born in Spain and having the three cultures, one of my ancestors would be Sephardic, since I felt a very special attraction towards them. Ryan was a Jew, and I liked being around him more and more.

Every Tuesday after class, Sofía and I went to have apple and cosmopolitan cocktails at The Dime bar, a small place, quite dark and frequented by surfers, each more handsome and also of Jewish origin.

What began as an anecdote on a Tuesday, turned into a game that fascinated us ... at the second cocktail no one took us off the bar, where from time to time the waiter threw a jet of water vapor that soaked us and it was the sign of the beginning. If the surfer who approached the bar to order, I did not move and let him lie on top of me, Sofía already knew that he was the chosen one and therefore before I left with him to continue the party in Malibú, she as a good lawyer and protector of her teacher, she would ask for his ID to verify his address, to keep him under control and with feminine intuition, while she took one last look at his enormous muscles, to give the go-ahead. I loved that moment, the surfer looked at her and became serious, then he looked at me and grabbed me by the waist so that I did not escape and I was happy to be free like the wind and finally start living without giving explanations to nobody.

Or so I thought, because Paul, who couldn't stand without knowing about me for so long, was in charge of quitting his job and driving for an hour and a half in the famous L.A. traffic. to pick me up the next day from the Boy toy’s house and say with the face of few friends: You smell like sex !.

On the way back I made it very clear to him that I was not ready to fall in love again, that it was obvious that his feelings for me were more than that of a friend, that it was not reciprocated and I did not want to hurt him. But that I was not going to consent that nobody cut my wings, much less look like the bad girl in the movie and that when the rental contract ends I would like to live alone.

At one of the parties the Consul gave at his residence, I met Ilya Salkind, the producer of the film Superman, of Russian-Jewish descent. 25 years older than me, and Mexican by birth. It was at a time that all the people I knew had to do with Jewish culture. For me it was like a dream to talk to someone so important in the film industry and when he invited me to dinner, I did not hesitate to accept. A limousine picked me up and took me to Canter’s, a huge 1931 restaurant where movie stars and celebrities go, open 24 hours and what a coincidence that Just was in front of my favorite bar, The Dime. They offer traditional Jewish meals but it is not considered Kosher as they also serve ham sandwiches. As I sampled what would become my go-to food for matzoh ball soup hangovers, Ilya Salkind would leave me with my mind-blowing stories wide open perfect mouth for the next spoonful. He told me the anecdote about why my favorite actor Paul Newman had rejected the role of Superman, about the controversial dismissal of Superman II director Richard Donner and his three marriages, the last one with the daughter of the legendary Charlie Chaplin, Jane Chaplin.

When Ilyan called his chauffeur asking him to refill the limousine bar with Champagne and assuming that he would pick us both up to take us to his mansion outside LA, as he said to me, don't worry about anything, in the morning he will take you back to your house, as if I was forced to accept just because of who he was. I started to feel very uncomfortable, I thought that how I had been so naive not to realize his intentions and I went to the toilet to call Ryan who would rescue me as a hero and since we had already finished the website, it was the perfect time to go to Lola's to have my long-awaited chocolate cocktail and if you have read the previous chapter, you can already imagine the romantic ending.

DON'T MISS CHAPTER 15!

Esther Ponce's experimental Flamenco is ready for the Valencian Director of Tourism to meet

It is very gratifying to have an idea like the experimental Flamenco in Valencia, carry it out and have managed to attract more than 20 foreign clients to Valencia in a short time and without marketing, who have passed through the Flamenco Art Center, and who have not only They learned a lot if not they have returned to their country with a better concept of Valencia.

His experience and approach to flamenco led by Esther Ponce will make you return without hesitation to the city of Turia.

Esther Ponce not only surrounds them with her passion and charisma from the first moment, her professionalism and a very long journey through different countries of the world where she has lived for long periods, she makes them fall in love.

«They also buy semi-professional shoes and a skirt to study with me.» That’s already the best! –
~ Esther Ponce

The foreigner is used to teaching flamenco very quickly and without discipline, anything goes, any shoe, any skirt, hanging out even parodying and even ridiculing flamenco.

With me if they want to study two private hours which is the minimum, they are given the option of buying or renting the shoes and none of them have thought twice about it to this day.

«Being a polyglot, doors just open up to me» –

Definitely the Experimental Flamenco of Esther Ponce has an Angel!

From England, without a doubt the most special Experimental Flamenco we have had at the Flamenco Art Center in these two and a half years.

The Esther Ponce Stylized Flamenco Art Center has been open for two and a half years. El Ángel Every August 28, for Esther’s birthday, a new foreign student gives her a gift and the flamenco toast intensifies.

«The students do not want to miss the opportunity to study with me. When they start to study my technique they are hooked at the first second. Those who play sports and take care of themselves immediately identify with my stretching and feel safer for the rest of the class and those who don’t appreciate it and will surely start practicing it and taking care of themselves forever »
~ Esther Ponce

This year Esther thought that her Angel would be very busy due to the current pandemic situation and also that it would be a coincidence that another year happened.

But to Esther’s surprise it was like that and without doubt the most special flamenco toast for England.

«Discipline is my hallmark and not even the Covid has stopped us» «I have never doubted it and I will only teach classes with a mask»
~ Esther Ponce

After the experience of teaching classes with a mask? A private flamenco class for two hours without stopping, does Esther remember that when she and the student went out into the street they breathed for two seconds as if there were no tomorrow?According to Esther’s recent experience, with the mask you cannot see the total expression of the student, but the eyes also speak and flamenco is also expressed with the body.

With all the safety measures, the student disinfected her shoes, put hydroalcoholic gel on her hands, a temperature control was performed with a non-contact forehead thermometer and the student did not remove her mask during the two hours, only in the changing room that she only used to drink water.

“Now I can present my Experimental Flamenco to the director of Tourism of Valencia and let him roll with the little ham :)”
