was time to go back to LA and that night we would have dinner at William's house. William took care of going to our favorite sushi restaurant and bringing a huge tray with some Sapporo beers as usual and then we would have some cosmopolitans. William called her mother in the United States and it was the first time I spoke to her. It was also the first time I was staying over at his house and he was going to work the next morning. The Embassy was across the street. I thought about getting some more sleep and then going home to pack when something totally terrifying happened. I went to the bathroom and when I got back to bed, I felt as if a knife was being stabbed very slowly in my back and I was immobile for a while, the room froze, I could not feel my hands or legs, I could not move or scream and fear seized me. I didn't want to be there anymore but I waited for William who would come back on a break and thus say goodbye.
Before I went through the drawers of the bedside table and I saw that the box of condoms that I had already counted a few days before without realizing it, was missing two and had not used them with me. The answer he gave me when I asked him why, not even him believe it. I also found several porn movies and some thong panties that weren't mine in his underwear drawer cabinet. He told me that this was very normal. The truth is that for Americans, yes, but my two brothers never had porn movies in their drawers, at least in sight; — And the panties? If you already have a girlfriend, why do you want them ? I asked him. He told me it was a gift and he finished messing it up. I didn't tell him about the knife because he wouldn't believe me and he would think I was crazy, but I had already told my mother and she immediately told me that what had happened was not my imagination and she revealed to me the identity of the person who nailed me the dagger.

It was 6 in the morning in LA, when my cell phone rang, it was William who missed me and he wanted to tell me that he was thinking of inviting me to Paris for Valentine's Day. It would be our first trip outside of Spain and he made me very happy, that was a sign that he loved me and that we were really starting a love story in the city of love.
The relationship with Paul had gone to another level, each month that passed, he made me suffer with the payment that he had to make of the debt we had with the Flamenco Festival, I say we had, because he promised to pay each month the loan that my parents asked for, mortgaging a property, and if it wasn't paid, it hurt us. And so Paul also had the power and in that way he was still close to me, although I paid less and less attention to him and that turned against me, but I have never been able to be false and it was exasperating and stressful every end of the month. Paul was unaware of my relationship with William and he was "happy" that I was no longer dating the Consul.

PARIS… We met at the airport, I took the most elegant clothes and jeans for the first time would not travel with me. When we passed security, William did something that left me freaked out, instead of going with me by my side, he got in another row as if he didn't know me at all ... is it that he would think that because I was a dancer I was carrying drugs or something illegal? I did not like that detail at all. I should have been the one to separate myself from him when picking up the suitcases, he was carrying a black bag! old and long as a dead man. On the plane he gave me a kiss, put on the earplugs, the mask and said: See you in two Hours. Never before had my ears hurt on a flight, not even to fly 14 hours to Australia, this time yes and a lot.
At the hotel we had our first discussion because he wanted to take a nap, and I wanted to take a nap and then sleep a nap.
I didn't understand getting into bed without passionately throwing ourselves at each other on Valentine's Day. And it is when I remembered my mother telling me; - Nena, with so many years that you have lived in LA and have you not met any boy that you really like? I replied that Americans were very cold for me ... and I just go and meet one and above all in Madrid ... The best of all was his gift, a green stuffed frog with a red heart that saids; —do you want to be my Valentine? ... even so I kept betting on our relationship.

GREECE… We no longer stopped traveling abroad, now it was time to meet his parents and his sister. They had rented a small yacht to go all together to tour the Greek islands. William and his sister every morning asked his mother the same question; - Mom, have you already taken the happiness pill? At first I didn't know what the matter was about, but I immediately realized that the mother was never happy, that she argued all the time with everyone, especially with her husband. She was never happy with food in restaurants and she complained about everything.
When I saw the towels for showering in that tiny bathroom, which was all in one, I was disgusted to dry myself, it was impossible for them to wash the towels like in a hotel at such high degrees to disinfect them from previous clients, but I had no choice. At night it was cold in the cabin and its moved so much that the dizziness was horrible and the cleanliness was nil. So after two days, I already had a urine infection, the first and only one I have ever had in my life. The pain was so excruciating that after crying like crazy, because for William it wasn't reason enough, we had to book a hotel room. In the pharmacy of Sifnos, an island that dates back 8 centuries before Jesus Christ, there are no cars, they did not speak English or Spanish and they did not want to give me antibiotics. I had to call Spain and from one pharmacy to another, they explained the components to find something similar. The only funny thing was that it was very windy, my hat fell off and I ran after it, I didn't realize it and I hit a huge tree hard and fell to the ground almost unconscious.
Finally in Athens, we stayed in my favorite hotel, the Grand Bretagne, a 5 and a half star hotel where from the moment you enter you feel like a queen, the smell of the soaps in the rooms, the gel, the shampoo, the salt bath, better than any Chanel perfume. The bathrobe with his golden seal was my second skin and of course, with my Spanish grace, they let me take it as a souvenir.
One of the 7 restaurants was in the attic where breakfast was served and in the evenings you could have drinks until 3 in the morning mesmerized by the beauty of the illuminated Acropolis. William's parents were staying at another hotel but they came to dinner that night and that's when I found out that William was sent to Iraq for two years and that every 4 months, he would have a month's vacation. American diplomats were the only way they could earn a lot of money, none of them wanted to live in Washington on a state minimum wage, but for that they risked their lives in war sites. The news surprised me a lot, at first I thought it was a joke, and I was super sad, but I didn't want to mess up the farewell with his parents. For that the mother has already taken care of it. She started by asking for lobster that they brought her a little cold and she changed it for another hot one, when arrived she said that it was still cold and when arrived for the third time, she said to take it away that she no longer felt like it. Then she began to mess with William's father, a good, funny man, similar to Santa Claus, chubby, blue eyes and with very white hair, who was super happy laughing while she told him with a bitter face to stop drinking. Until he could no longer bear her impertinences and told her that even with all the best, the best views, the best restaurant, his family, and the best dinner, she was unable to be happy. Then the mother got up and went to the entrance to ask for a taxi, which arrived just before ours and did not give her son a hug, who was going to a country at war and perhaps not would see him again.
When we got to the hotel, I understood that William had never received the love of a mother like mine and that they were so different from us ... that I was sorry, but as the Spanish proverb says, because of sadness the plague also enters..

MIAMI… It was the first month of vacation and William took me a ticket to go to Miami where he grew up and where his aunt lived with his daughter and his father's best friend. Taking advantage of the trip, I called Miles Copeland and he organized for me a two-day intensive flamenco course for the Belly Dance Superstart who were there performing.
William, his father and his friend, were in the Bahamas and they would all arrive in Miami the same day as me, and we would stay at his friend's house and then Willian and I will go back to the Bahamas for a few days. But only the father and the friend showed up at the airport. I got a lump in my throat when they told me that William had stayed in the Bahamas, that I would not lack for anything and that they would take me to the airport after my flamenco course to meet him there.
I did not understand anything ! It couldn't be true, I was hoping to get to the apartment and find William, but he wasn't. I asked the father why he had not traveled with them how he told me that he would do and if he had stayed with someone, when with all impudence he replied laughing that maybe he had stayed with a girl. He hurt me so much that I didn't even want to eat dinner, I couldn't sleep…I hadn't seen him for 4 months and I didn't expect it.

BAHAMAS …The Miami - Bahamas flight lasted an hour and went by quickly although I was not very happy. Bahamas is a paradise, another world. But there was William waiting for me with a bouquet of red roses and a big smile. I really wanted to see him and didn't ask questions because I wasn't ready for the answers. But when I got to the cabin right in front of the sea, like one more savage, I couldn't wait and smell the sheets and search every corner looking for evidence of the crime that I couldn't find.

KEY WEST… Returning to Miami, we stayed one night at his aunt's house before traveling to Key West. Super pretty and Director of a famous museum. She unfortunately had just become a widow. Her husband passed away very young, he was the brother of William's father. She showed us the blood that was still on the bathroom floor when he had a heart attack and fell and that she didn't want to clean up. She had his clothes hanging still on the chair he would wear that day. It must have been horrible to be alone in that big house and away from everything.
Between the cockroaches that came out of the bathroom, the exaggerated amount of dust that was in the room where we slept and the hair of the cat, I had such an allergy that I could neither breathe nor sleep. Thanks to an antihistamine, Benadryl, which is so strong that you even have nightmares, at least I was able to sleep for a few hours. We rented a car and left very early. We stopped for gas and William asked me if I wanted something from the store, at that moment I didn't feel like anything, just to sleep, I was probably still on the effects of the pill, William bought himself some cookies and coffee. Seeing the crocodile danger sign! I woke up suddenly and even got hungry, I went to get a cookie and William slapped my hand to make me drop it, telling me that those were his cookies and that he had asked me before if I wanted something. He was saying it with all his soul, it wasn't a joke. My God! I thought ... what the hell am I doing here with a man who is unable to share a cookie with his girlfriend ... and I told him to stop the car, that I would rather be eaten by crocodiles than continue traveling together. He asked me for forgiveness and once again I realized that this is educational, my parents had instilled in me the word share and I was more and more proud of them and of the values they had taught me.
The hotel room was very small and we were in bed resting when William's phone rang, it was a friend who asked him where he was and he answered; - I am in Key West with A girlfriend, that means, I am with A friend, instead of saying; - I am with MY girlfriend, that means I am with MY girlfriend. I told him that I already knew enough English to differentiate what he had just said to his "friend". He also told her that he would have a cocktail to her health. One of two, or it was difficult for him to assume that he had a girlfriend and that meant ceasing to be free and having the possibility of sleeping with all the friends he had around the world, or he was really already sleeping with all those friends and did not want to lose them.
In the afternoon we went to visit the Southernmost Point at sea, which is 90 miles from Cuba and where all the tourists take photos. William had been to key west many times before and in the evening he took me to his father's favorite bar, where everyone is naked even the waiters. I was freezing cold and we sat at a round table on the penthouse terrace with other clients we did not know at all, all drinking and talking quietly about how their mothers brought them into the world and I remember a girl wondering if I was not even thinking to remove my jacket. William also did not undress.
Where I really enjoyed it was visiting the spectacular house where Ernest Hemingway lived, built in 1851 by the architect Asa Tif, located 5 meters above sea level. The furniture in Hemingway's bedroom and in the dining room were all 17th-century Spanish.

THE CARIBBEAN… we returned to Miami to catch a direct flight to the Virgin Islands. Saint John, Saint Croix, Saint Thomas were all like being in a dream, every morning we went on a cruise to visit hidden corners and that included food and drink during the 4 hours that the excursion lasted. The first day with the excitement I had Champagne from 8 in the morning, but between the dizziness, the desire to vomit and William who did not stop making jokes and chasing the tourist guides, all young and beautiful, I did not repeat.
At night we went to a bar full of local people, we ate the best seafood touching the water of the Caribbean Sea with our feet, the bamboo roof, its Caribbean color to the rhythm of hip / hop that ran through their veins like rum did to us. , It bewitched you to the point that I couldn't take it anymore, I took off my heels and started dancing in the middle of the dance floor next to a black man who was a sculpture, with his denim shorts and no shirt, very handsome and with a great body of scandal, I was enjoying myself as never before, people left us alone dancing super hot and I forgot that William was also watching, when suddenly I see him next to me, so white, with his Gap shorts, his Ralph Lauren polo shirt , sneakers that collided with the straw floor and dancing totally out of rhythm, without grace ... poor thing! Immediately the waitress approached and said to William moving her neck to the sides with some Dreadlocks that reached almost to the floor; - I'd better go back to your table and leave your girl alone with him, she does know what she's doing and has the rhyme and the black body ... thank goodness Willian took it well and we laughed so hard that it was a magical night.
It was our last day and we stayed at the hotel diving and enjoying the wonderful coral reefs… how flamencos that the coral earrings are… I couldn't stop creating an underwater choreography… until I was interrupted by William's voice on the surface, he wanted to tell me that he was going to the computer room to print the trips. I got out of the crystal clear turquoise water and lay on the lounger, I was super tired from the night before and super relaxed touching the white sand with my hands, when suddenly I noticed a spike brushing my hand, my God, it was a giant green iguana! For me a dinosaur, as big and tall as the deckchair. Apparently they are harmless if you don't disturb them, but just in case I went inside the hotel and looked for William to come out to see the dinosaur. I got behind him without him seeing me to give him a scare but the scare took me when I saw that he was answering by email one of the girls with whom he would share a cabin on a trip that they had organized to surf to Hawaii and without my knowing it. If it hadn't been for the iguana, I would never have found out.

    <div class="elementor-element elementor-element-60c0d9e elementor-widget
